Hey everyone! So I finally have some crochet-related news. If you have been following my facebook then you already know what it is. Kitty Cat Hats are now up in the store! There was a preview of the orange tabby cat hat in my Whisper Challenge video that I posted in my last blog entry, but in actuality there are FOUR different types to choose from. Clockwise starting in the top left corner you have the black cat, the cheshire, the gray tabby, and the orange tabby. I really love how these turned out! They are wacky good fun and most importantly comfortable and warm. I've already started the planning for a video involving them, now all I need is footage. So that will be one of the things I will be working on the next couple of weeks. I love animals and I will most likely be designing more furry and not so furry friend themed accessories. Owls and definitely raccoons will turn up at some point. =) Until then... Ciao meow!

Last year I planned to do this huge yarnbomb project but never quite finished it. This year I plan to change that. But to do that I realized I probably should start a bit smaller. So I've been trying to think of some little things I could do here and there. I was out on a walk a couple days ago and had a sudden idea for Valentine's Day. I thought it would look cute if I were to plant little "heart flowers" in the ground. A nice splash of color in all that snow. Of course this didn't give me a lot time. My brain has a way of coming up with things last minute. But I've managed to create about ten of these flowers and will be planting them tomorrow. Each one has an encouraging note attached to the stem. I've also cleverly put my website url on the back as well. Hee hee!
Anyways, I hope to be able to put up a video of this yarny escapade tomorrow. Eventually I think I will create a tutorial in case anyone else wants to make a flower for a loved one, or better yet, a bouquet! But that probably won't be for awhile. So I know my store has been looking a little sparse. But I've been working extra hard behind the scenes to change that. If you've been following me all this time you've most likely gotten glimpses of what's to come here and there. Guess what? Here is another! Can you guess what it is? I'll give you a hint. It's an animal o f some sort!
Anyways, if you're wondering why it takes me so long to update so many things it's because I basically do it all myself. I'm not complaining! It's quite fun and brings me pride to be able to say I did it all myself. But it takes time. For instance, first I have to envision a design. Then I have to design it! Sometimes that can take awhile because seeing it in your head and actually crocheting it to look like the picture in your head are two different things! Then once I've figured out how to make it, then comes the tutorials, pictures, and eventually putting it up in my store. And all of that has a lot of editing involved! I sometimes wish I could blink and it would be ready right away. But without all the work that goes into something you wouldn't get the satisfaction. Have you ever been working on something so long that you think you'll never finish? And when you do it is the most awesome feeling ever? So basically what I am saying is, thank you to all of you that have been following my blog, watching my videos, and waiting ever so patiently for me to get my feet off the ground. You've been sharing all my anticipations and frustrations and soon will get to share the excitements too! =) A couple weeks ago my mom mentioned that she needed a key chain. I had also been browsing Pinterest and wanted to experiment with some ideas I had gotten. So I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I originally thought to play around with a little popsicle but as my mom is such a huge meat eater, I decided to do a burger instead. However, finding a proper key chain to attach to said burger was harder than I anticipated! I wanted something a little durable. Not some delicate little chain, or flimsy clip. I'm also not one to order things online because I like to see and touch what I am purchasing. Maybe I am a bit old fashioned. For my first prototype I used a heavy duty looking key clip from the hardware store. It was a bit overpowering. My mom didn't mind since that was the kind of clip she wanted. But I was not satisfied. I went ahead and created a second burger even though I still hadn't found the type of chain I was looking for. I then shopped around a bit more to see if I could find the chain I wanted. I didn't. So instead I bought some findings to create my own key chain. I've got the necessary tools, so hopefully this will look a bit better. But I've already started working on a tutorial for this delicious little guy that I will be featuring on my Curious profile.
Hey all! I got another hat tutorial coming your way!! When I was little I had this hat. I say "hat" because that's how I used it, but really it was this super long Christmas stocking. It was pretty cool because I could use it as a hat AND a scarf! I don't have the hat anymore, but I still think it was cool idea. I see pictures of these long elflike hats on Pinterest all the time. So I decided to create my own. If you would like to make one too, click on the picture below to follow along! This one is free and you can find it on Youtube channel. ;) It is a really long hat, so I had to break this tutorial up into 3 parts. You can expect the other two to be up in the next couple of weeks.
Anyways, I think it is a rather useful hat to have because if you're wearing it you can never forget either your hat or scarf because they'll always be together! It's also a great accessory to have if you are planning on infiltrating the Keebler elves base to steal their cookies. |
