Phew! Christmas is finally over and we are already well into the new year. I'm totally looking forward to warmer weather but in the mean time there is plenty to do inside. Such as crochet! You all thought I forgot about crocheting didn't you? No I didn't! In fact for a Christmas present my mom got me Twinkie Chan's newest book "Crocheted Abode A La Mode" and I've already started getting into it. I've actually been wanting this book all last year and I very much recommend it to all my fellow crocheter's out there. As usual Twinkie makes things delicious, fun and practical. My favorite combination! It was my mom's birthday this month and I made her some adorable magnets from the book. They turned out quite well. I've only made 3 here: the baguette, steak, and egg. But there are plenty more to make including a strawberry donut. Yum! If you're not familiar with Twinkie you can find her here: Other than that I am hanging in there as I hope the rest of you are as well. Sometimes when things get so hectic and feel so uncertain it feels near impossible to look at the positive because it's like it doesn't even exist. And maybe it doesn't. In this case we have to try to make positive things happen. I'm not talking about changing the world or anything like that but if you can find a way, even with tiny itty bitty baby things, to cheer yourself up then do it. Don't let others tell you that your coping mechanism's are stupid. Life is hard! As long as you aren't harming yourself or anyone else you do what you love and do best and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Hey all! I am slowly chipping away at the crochet tutorials and have finally released part 2 of the Flowering Cactoid tutorial. Yay! I've also been battling a lot of anxiety. This includes rapid weight gain, lots of hair loss and crippling breathing issues. Anxiety is not just all in your head. I often have to remind myself to breathe. I'm doing a lot better though. I've actually taken to bringing a stuffed animal in the car with me when I drive. Haha!
Anyways, I just want to say that if you suffer with anxiety as well don't let others make you feel like it's not a real thing and that all you have to do is think positive and it will magically go away. It won't. Though thinking positive does help it also takes a lot of practice and effort to continue to do so. Sort of like training for a marathon. But if you've been worried that I am not updating this site anymore or blogging, don't! I have not given up. Sometimes we have to slow down and take little breaks. As long as you don't stop you'll always be on the right track! See you soon with more videos! <3 Emi Hey everyone! Happy 4th of July!!! So I've been working hard and finally got part 1 of my next crochet tutorial out! You can view it here: I had at first considered making it all in one video but that would probably have ended up an hour long. So I decided to break it into parts to you all and myself a break. Haha! To create this pattern I was inspired by two other patterns which you can find here: Other than that I hope you enjoy it! I was inspired to create a character from Final Fantasy XII (12) because I love cacti and thought it would be a funny twist to a crocheted potted plant. If you've never played the game and don't know what a flowering cactoid is don't worry! You can omit the face and just have you own potted cactus. =)
I hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day. I enjoyed a nice warm, snuggly afternoon inside while watching the snow flurry outside. Too often I feel what's important about this holiday is lost. Like Christmas the focus is usually rather commercial. Because of this many people can feel lost and alone which is not what a holiday should be. It's not about if you have a significant other, rather I think it's about love in general. Love for your friends, your family, your pets, and yourself. So I like to spread little notes of love every year for this. Last year I crocheted heart shaped flowers, attached an encouragement, and then "planted" them along a nature path. This year I decided to create envelopes out of hearts to write the encouraging messages inside. In doing so I hope that I have brightened someone's day when they might otherwise be feeling the pressures of how Valentine's is advertised. If you'd like to follow along with the process and try it out yourself, here is the vlog for this year's Valentine's Day: You can also view the previous year's vlog here: Hey everyone! So I finally have some crochet-related news. If you have been following my facebook then you already know what it is. Kitty Cat Hats are now up in the store! There was a preview of the orange tabby cat hat in my Whisper Challenge video that I posted in my last blog entry, but in actuality there are FOUR different types to choose from. Clockwise starting in the top left corner you have the black cat, the cheshire, the gray tabby, and the orange tabby. I really love how these turned out! They are wacky good fun and most importantly comfortable and warm. I've already started the planning for a video involving them, now all I need is footage. So that will be one of the things I will be working on the next couple of weeks. I love animals and I will most likely be designing more furry and not so furry friend themed accessories. Owls and definitely raccoons will turn up at some point. =) Until then... Ciao meow!
