Aaarrgh! Where does the time go?! This is why I am constantly reminded how important it is to stop and smell the roses. If you don't the roses disappear before you even remember they were there! Anyways, back to making sense. Awhile ago I discovered these felt animal heads that you can hang on your wall. My first thought was: "that's expensive I'll just make that myself" but as I've gotten older I've realized that I just can't do everything. I don't mean that I couldn't do it if I tried but rather that it's unhealthy to spread myself so thin. When you don't have a strong passion to a particular thing you can sometimes find yourself bouncing from one thing to another without every mastering or even finishing anything that you start and this can get rather overwhelming when one day you look around yourself and realize you've got about 50 things you need or want to finish and not much time to do it. Then comes the panic attack... So! Back to felted animal heads. I thought about getting myself one (or 3) but never did. Then came Mother's Day. My mom had thought they were pretty cute too so I was sure it would make a nice gift. She seemed particularly interested in a llama one. Upon walking over to the aisle however I discovered a swan with a tutu and then...a FLAMINGO! For those of you who don't know my mom I can tell you that she loves flamingos. I think it might be their tropical appeal. But really what is not to love about them. They're cute, they're weird, and they're bright pink. So without further ado I introduce you to Ming the Merciless! Currently he looks a bit lonely so maybe at some point I'll have to get the swan to keep him company. And then maybe the unicorn and the shark....
If you're curious as to where to get your own they are in Target. Happy felt animal head hunting! P.S. No flamingos were harmed in the making of this post.

Phew! Christmas is finally over and we are already well into the new year. I'm totally looking forward to warmer weather but in the mean time there is plenty to do inside. Such as crochet! You all thought I forgot about crocheting didn't you? No I didn't! In fact for a Christmas present my mom got me Twinkie Chan's newest book "Crocheted Abode A La Mode" and I've already started getting into it. I've actually been wanting this book all last year and I very much recommend it to all my fellow crocheter's out there. As usual Twinkie makes things delicious, fun and practical. My favorite combination! It was my mom's birthday this month and I made her some adorable magnets from the book. They turned out quite well. I've only made 3 here: the baguette, steak, and egg. But there are plenty more to make including a strawberry donut. Yum! If you're not familiar with Twinkie you can find her here: Other than that I am hanging in there as I hope the rest of you are as well. Sometimes when things get so hectic and feel so uncertain it feels near impossible to look at the positive because it's like it doesn't even exist. And maybe it doesn't. In this case we have to try to make positive things happen. I'm not talking about changing the world or anything like that but if you can find a way, even with tiny itty bitty baby things, to cheer yourself up then do it. Don't let others tell you that your coping mechanism's are stupid. Life is hard! As long as you aren't harming yourself or anyone else you do what you love and do best and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Hey all! This month has been insane!! Sylvia has been going to special classes once a week to earn her WRAP credentials so I've been taking her once a week to the train station where she goes down to the city. And guess what? She graduated! If you want to know more of what Sylvia has been up to you can follow her here: Anyways, when I went on the train with her on her last day for the graduation I happened to notice some greenhouses out the window. I thought about how nice it would be to have some of my own. But of course living in an apartment you don't get much chance to grow a lot of plants. So instead I decided to build some virtually in Minecraft. I've got potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, melons, beets, sugarcane, and cocoa beans ready for the harvest. I also have wheat too but that's growing in separate field all by itself. Then of course I needed a chicken coop to go with.... You can see the chickens roaming in the outside pen. Here is the inside of the chicken coop. I gave them special beds made of hay and a nice clean water trough. They also have a little door that they can use to come in and out freely. You can actually see them using it. I always enjoy a bit of farming. It's rather relaxing. Now all I have to do is finish my house. Haha! Also, in other news Jackielantern came over this month and we've had a whole buttload of shenanigans! I've also been working on another crochet tutorial! Here is a sneak peak of what you will be crocheting with me: As always stay tuned!
Another year has rolled around again and this time I'm gonna take it seriously! At least that's the idea. I didn't make any new year's resolutions per say, but I feel that 2016 will be different. I can already feel a new me on the horizon. That being said my taste buds have already taken the lead. I went and ate something...a bit disgusting, but oh so delicious! Confused? You should be. Can you guess what it might be? I'll give you some hints. 1. It's really good for you. 2. It's crunchy. 3. It's spicy. 4. It smells like something died. Give up? Well here it is: It's Kimchi!!!!!
I've heard random things about it for years, but never gave it much thought. Recently I've started to really enjoy red cabbage. The flavor and especially the crunch. I LOVE that one salad with the cabbage mix, the ramen noodles and the sesame seeds. The name of that salad has eluded me at the moment but nevermind. I was wandering around the health market in the grocery store and the Kimchi caught my eye. I had absolutely no idea what was in it so I decided to take a look. It's got, ginger, red peppers, and my favorite thing: CABBAGE!! So I thought, why not? The smell is...well....disgusting. Akin to sauerkraut and really bad farts. The taste, however, is delicious! Plus it's very good for the digestion. If you like spicy, crunchy things you must try this! Just..uhhh...maybe don't eat it around other people or right before a social event. Happy Eating!! So if you haven't been keeping up with my latest crafts (How can you when I forget to announce that I've done one!) then you might be curious to know that I like to test Pinterest pins. Because some of them can look so amazing but turn out to be a total flop. Some you can just tell by looking at them how sketchy they might be, but a fair few are really quite helpful and amazing! One such pin was for making a D.I.Y. dry erase board. I wasn't too skeptical about this one but I still had to try it for myself. It worked wonderfully! Not only is it the perfect place to write to-do lists and reminders but it also doubles as some fantastic wall art. I created a video walkthrough for this which you can check out right here: Also if you haven't already you should also check out the arts & crafts section on this website. Found here:
