Looking back at all the things I've done this year is pretty amazing. Who knew that one of my greatest fears of getting fired actually happening could be so good for me? I have had so many adventures that I just would not have considered or made time for had I still been stuck in a 9 to 5 prison that I hated. Things aren't all peachy though, obviously. But looking on the bright side really helps. Plus, all the problems I've been having lately are just a reminder that things happen for a reason. My editing software died, so I had to get a new more updated program. Now I can do even more things! Then, like clockwork, my TV died. So I haven't been able to watch any videos or play any games. But it's given me more time and ideas to work with my yarn. Recently I learned that I CAN work with that furry eyelash yarn. Initially it was just too tricky for me. But now I can do it and that just means I've leveled up! Haha! So what did I do when I discovered this fact? I worked on perfecting my Aminal hat pattern of course! It still needs tweaking, but I am that much closer to fantastic furry perfection! I'm excited because there is a line of yarn in Hobby Lobby that I desperately want to play with: Unfortunately the weird yellow lighting in Hobby Lobby does not do these beautiful colors justice. There are seven colors in all. A white, a tan, a cream, a pink, a black, a brown, and blue gray. They are VERY soft and look like wonderful flowing fur. And they are acrylic! Imagine the awesome animal-tastic fun I could have with this! Vests, arm warmers, leg warmers, etc. For now I'll be starting small and perfecting that hat!

Hey all! So last week I ran into a bunch of problems. The internet wasn't working and my video editing program died on me. I felt really really bummed. And it was at this point I was grateful for the simplicity of my crochet.
You don't have to have an account, monthly fees, or special technological program or gadget to crochet. All you need is a hook, yarn, and your two hands. That's it! I have read that crocheting can help you if you suffer from depression and I wholeheartedly believe that. Our world can get really complicated and overwhelming really fast. So it is nice to be able to sit down and be able to do something that doesn't have so many requirements of us. Not to mention the yarn is soft and counting stitches can be a lot like counting sheep. It gets your mind off your problems and can be very soothing. It got me thinking how important it is to have a hobby. Possibly multiple hobbies. Because life is stressful and we all need some sort of relief. And if one hobby has gotten "stuck" it's great to have your other interests to pull you through! I obviously got my internet back, but my video problems are still ongoing. Which is sad because I enjoy making videos as much as I love my crochet. BUT! It isn't the end of the world, and will hopefully be fixed soon. Plus there was a bit of a silver lining to all this as well. Because I wasn't spending as much time creating videos or surfing the net I started cleaning out all the junk in my room. So now I am that much closer to having the crochet studio of my dreams! |
