Hey all! It's Spring already!! Time can sure get away from you if you aren't paying attention. I've been hard at work catching up with all the videos I had made last year and didn't finish editing. If you follow my Youtube channel you'll no doubt have already noticed the sudden influx of videos. My anxiety is slowing getting better which is fortunate since Sylvia seems to be determined to make more day trips this year whether I'm ready or not! Anyways, I've been getting my geek on it seems. If you ever played Super Mario Bros then this is for you! As I was doing this I remembered how much I really enjoy painting. So I will definitely be trying to do more of that. I often feel like I have a lot of ideas and not a lot of time or energy to do them. But at least I've always got something I can be doing. I'm never bored that's for sure!

Hey everyone! Happy 4th of July!!! So I've been working hard and finally got part 1 of my next crochet tutorial out! You can view it here: I had at first considered making it all in one video but that would probably have ended up an hour long. So I decided to break it into parts to you all and myself a break. Haha! To create this pattern I was inspired by two other patterns which you can find here: Other than that I hope you enjoy it! I was inspired to create a character from Final Fantasy XII (12) because I love cacti and thought it would be a funny twist to a crocheted potted plant. If you've never played the game and don't know what a flowering cactoid is don't worry! You can omit the face and just have you own potted cactus. =)
Hey all! Hope you had a wonderful Earth Day! I like to spend that day in nature if at all possible. It's also a great day because it's the day I was born. No wonder I'm a nature girl! But it doesn't have to be Earth Day for you to appreciate this beautiful green and blue planet we live on. You can do something for the Earth or involving the Earth every day. Whether it be going outside or recycling it's up to you. Sometimes on my nature walks I come across really cool looking rocks. I'm sure you have too. Maybe you are a rock collector. If you aren't you might want to start collecting a few because there is a cute little craft you can do with them. You'll also love this if you are a fan of puns. ;) Anyways, I cooked up another DIY experiment which you can follow along with here: Happy crafting!!
Last week was St. Patty's Day and I always look forward to the green. Green grass, and green food. No not the moldy kind....Shamrock Shakes! But ever since I stopped eating dairy I can't enjoy that tradition anymore. Until now!! I found a DIY Shamrock Shake on Pinterest awhile back and this year decided to try it out. It rocked! Best of all I could make it my way: vegan style! Here's how I did it: In making this shake however, it occurred to me that I can also make vegan versions of chocolate and strawberry shakes. Using the non-dairy vanilla ice cream for a base, you can either use cocoa powder for the chocolate shakes and real strawberries for the strawberry. I actually like to use Nesquik. No this is not an ad. But as someone who can't eat dairy and is rather health conscious it's surprisingly not bad. No dairy in it, no high fructose corn syrup and no fake sugars. Well...unless you get the no added sugar kind. Yeah....don't recommend getting that kind.
I suggest experimenting with these shakes in your own style with your own favorite ingredients. Try using real fruit, or maybe even Kool-Aid mixes. You could potentially make a cherry shake, an orange dreamy shake, a pina colada shake. Mmmm I'm getting hungry. Who says being lactose intolerant has to be a downer? I hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day. I enjoyed a nice warm, snuggly afternoon inside while watching the snow flurry outside. Too often I feel what's important about this holiday is lost. Like Christmas the focus is usually rather commercial. Because of this many people can feel lost and alone which is not what a holiday should be. It's not about if you have a significant other, rather I think it's about love in general. Love for your friends, your family, your pets, and yourself. So I like to spread little notes of love every year for this. Last year I crocheted heart shaped flowers, attached an encouragement, and then "planted" them along a nature path. This year I decided to create envelopes out of hearts to write the encouraging messages inside. In doing so I hope that I have brightened someone's day when they might otherwise be feeling the pressures of how Valentine's is advertised. If you'd like to follow along with the process and try it out yourself, here is the vlog for this year's Valentine's Day: You can also view the previous year's vlog here: |
