So as you all know, not only do I have a love of crochet, but I love many other forms of art as well. Any way I can get creative and express myself is music to my ears. But you might be surprised about some of the mediums I use to get creative. I mean....there's yarn, there's paint, there's film and then there's....Minecraft?! Yep! Recently my mom got a stamp set that basically could depict a picnic scene. It had hamburgers, it had ketchup and mustard, it had grass, and little ants! I thought this was so adorable that I was inspired to build a scene of my own. At first it started with just the picnic table and food. A plate of hot dogs, salad and chips, hot dog buns and of course ketchup and mustard. But then I thought....this scene needs a grill! I even made sure it had that charcoal and fire burning underneath. You can't have under cooked hot dogs!! I then proceeded to add in the groundwork, i.e. the dirt, grass and some rocks and clover. Then of course I decided to go overboard and build a giant tree. xD But what is a picnic without some shade and greenery? I'm not entirely sure the total time it took me to do this, but I will say that I placed each and every item one at a time by hand. It was basically like building a virtual sculpture with building blocks. I am still adding things to the scene whenever any new ideas strike me. But this is a perfect example of how art is art. You can take anything and make it beautiful and amazing! If you want to see what originally inspired me you can go here to my mom's blog. She creates some fantastically cute and adorable things! You can find her here: Though another reason I take my Minecraft building so seriously is not simply because I find it very enjoyable but because I am now a part of a Minecraft build team! I really admire all the people I work with and they are an extremely talented bunch of people. It is amazing to be able to work together with those that share the same love of creation. You can find their webpage here: And you should also check out their Youtube channel here: Even if you are not a Minecrafter I still encourage you to check them out. I believe it is more than just a game, but an opportunity to get together with friends and let our imagination's soar! Not only do we have the ability to create other worlds with immersive story lines, but some of us create some absolutely amazing architecture. No kidding!
