What does a rabbit have to do with eggs? I often wonder how those two things got associated. Regardless, it makes for some yummy eating. While I was hanging out with Jackielantern a few weeks back, we had a few cooking escapades. One of which involved making delicious bunny rabbits. Not real ones of course, but scrumptious doughy ones! You can check out how that turned out here: More recently, this weekend to be precise, I also colored eggs with Sylvia and the Cheetah. We started off with a standard dye kit. For some reason the colored tablets were somewhat unidentifiable at first. That quickly changed once we dumped the liquid in there. Then Sylvia showed us the tricks of the egg dyeing trade. You can do all sorts of things to make designs such as wrapping a rubber band around your egg. The kit also came with some cute little stickers that Cheetah got especially creative with when she made a little butterfly. Something else you can do is crack the shell of your egg before you dye it. Then when you peel it later is has a nice crackle effect. We ended up with a pretty good haul I think. Happy Egg-laying Bunny Day!

Last week was St. Patty's Day and I always look forward to the green. Green grass, and green food. No not the moldy kind....Shamrock Shakes! But ever since I stopped eating dairy I can't enjoy that tradition anymore. Until now!! I found a DIY Shamrock Shake on Pinterest awhile back and this year decided to try it out. It rocked! Best of all I could make it my way: vegan style! Here's how I did it: In making this shake however, it occurred to me that I can also make vegan versions of chocolate and strawberry shakes. Using the non-dairy vanilla ice cream for a base, you can either use cocoa powder for the chocolate shakes and real strawberries for the strawberry. I actually like to use Nesquik. No this is not an ad. But as someone who can't eat dairy and is rather health conscious it's surprisingly not bad. No dairy in it, no high fructose corn syrup and no fake sugars. Well...unless you get the no added sugar kind. Yeah....don't recommend getting that kind.
I suggest experimenting with these shakes in your own style with your own favorite ingredients. Try using real fruit, or maybe even Kool-Aid mixes. You could potentially make a cherry shake, an orange dreamy shake, a pina colada shake. Mmmm I'm getting hungry. Who says being lactose intolerant has to be a downer? Phew! This past month has been crazy! And for a good reason. This year marks some pretty big landmarks for me. For one thing I will be 30 years old this year, and consequently so will my BFF of 20 YEARS! We've of course had our ups and downs, but to know each other for that long and still do things together and regularly talk is amazing! We decided that to mark our milestones we wanted to do some crazy things this year. One idea was to go into the thrift store and get funky to none other than...you've probably guessed it....Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's Thrift Shop! I have a habit of just throwing ideas out there and not always following through, but Jackielantern was having none of that. I recently visited her in her hometown and was feeling total burnout. Lucky for me she was rearing to go! Here is the epic result: If you're lucky to have a BFF go do something wacky with them right now! I guarantee you'll have loads of fun. =)
