Who Is Emi Gurumi?I'm a crocheter, multi-media artist, Minecrafter, wannabe dancer, aspiring adult, and possibly a cat in disguise. I started this site as an outlet for my crochet but I wanted to do more than that so here we are! What can you find here? Lots of things. There's the aforementioned crochet. I do tutorials and in-progress updates on projects. I try out patterns and create some of my own. I make stop motion videos with amigurumi.

I also like to do experiments with other artistic media. Anything from using outdoor materials like pine cones and rocks to more traditional supplies like acrylic paints.
When I'm not creating things I like to explore in my local area in places such as forest preserves, museums, and the county fair. I blog about life struggles, exciting things I've discovered, current events and projects or just whatever is on my mind. I take on challenges like eating gross jelly beans or running through muddy obstacle courses. |
Why do I do all of this? There are a few reasons. Growing up I was very sheltered and not really allowed to explore my interests. I was strongly instructed to do what everyone else wanted instead. As an adult I have the freedom to decide what is important to me and a voice to express it. The trick is discovering or re-discovering what that is and finding the courage to put myself out there.
Another reason I do all these things is that it's fun. It's fun to create and explore and it's fun to entertain others with what I do. |
Someone once told me: "If you're not having fun you're doing it wrong!" I definitely believe this is true. We're only given one life. Yes, we've got responsibilites, hardships and circumstances completely out of our control. But that's what makes the good memories worth remembering. Living in survival mode, being afraid of what might happen has caused me to forget almost every aspect of my life and that in itself is terrifying. I want to remember all the good stuff and on my bad days have something to remind me of that good stuff!
