What does a rabbit have to do with eggs? I often wonder how those two things got associated. Regardless, it makes for some yummy eating. While I was hanging out with Jackielantern a few weeks back, we had a few cooking escapades. One of which involved making delicious bunny rabbits. Not real ones of course, but scrumptious doughy ones! You can check out how that turned out here: More recently, this weekend to be precise, I also colored eggs with Sylvia and the Cheetah. We started off with a standard dye kit. For some reason the colored tablets were somewhat unidentifiable at first. That quickly changed once we dumped the liquid in there. Then Sylvia showed us the tricks of the egg dyeing trade. You can do all sorts of things to make designs such as wrapping a rubber band around your egg. The kit also came with some cute little stickers that Cheetah got especially creative with when she made a little butterfly. Something else you can do is crack the shell of your egg before you dye it. Then when you peel it later is has a nice crackle effect. We ended up with a pretty good haul I think. Happy Egg-laying Bunny Day!

Phew! This past month has been crazy! And for a good reason. This year marks some pretty big landmarks for me. For one thing I will be 30 years old this year, and consequently so will my BFF of 20 YEARS! We've of course had our ups and downs, but to know each other for that long and still do things together and regularly talk is amazing! We decided that to mark our milestones we wanted to do some crazy things this year. One idea was to go into the thrift store and get funky to none other than...you've probably guessed it....Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's Thrift Shop! I have a habit of just throwing ideas out there and not always following through, but Jackielantern was having none of that. I recently visited her in her hometown and was feeling total burnout. Lucky for me she was rearing to go! Here is the epic result: If you're lucky to have a BFF go do something wacky with them right now! I guarantee you'll have loads of fun. =)
When one year ends and another begins it's important to look back and see how far you've come. It's so easy to get lost in all of one's faults.
As such I've been going through all of my blog posts. Mostly because I decided to once again define new post categories to make them simpler and easier. I noticed a few things. One, I actually accomplished quite a lot. I tend to forget for some reason. (Which is exactly why I've created this site! Derp!) Two, I noticed a lot of gaps in my blogging. A sign that my anxiety is still plaguing me, and that's ok. We can't always expect ourselves to be perfect. It's unrealistic. What's not ok is that I am still letting it hold me back. Toward the end of last year I got really depressed as well. I hit a pretty bad low. I was feeling a lot of disappointment and not any motivation. I am still feeling it. Now, more than ever it's hard to go out and socialize, to work, to even put myself out there. I bring this up because I feel too often it's idealized to not feel this way. Or at least to hide it. Which is extremely unrealistic and then gives a feeling of failure. Especially for those that suffer with depression and/or anxiety. Even if you don't suffer from these things it gets tough to deal with everything. So I'm just putting it out there that I am with you! And here are some tips that I use to be able to function: 1. Start with the little things. Even getting up, getting dressed, showering and eating are accomplishments when you'd otherwise just be staying in bed. So don't forget to recognize your progress on the really bad days even if it is small. 2. Don't dwell. If you can fix something or a situation do it. If not, do as much as you can and then distract yourself with something else. Like crocheting. Or dancing. Or a puzzle. Or Pinterest. xD 3. Stay positive. Even if you have to be a bit sarcastic to do it. Can't find the silver lining in your situation? Make fun of it. Like comedians do. 4. Have a comfort item. For me it's being wrapped in something soft and warm. So when I'm out and can't be wrapped in a blanket burrito I wear some sort of crocheted item. For you it could be a small stuffed animal, a lucky keychain, gum, etc. 5. Take breaks. Don't wait until you're completely overwhelmed with something. If you're brain starts refusing to cooperate or your mood is rapidly plummeting, or you simply feel like you just might hyperventilate step away for a second. Go to the bathroom. Go outside if you can. Drink water, focus on your breathing and use that comfort item to relax you. Hope this helps! Another year has rolled around again and this time I'm gonna take it seriously! At least that's the idea. I didn't make any new year's resolutions per say, but I feel that 2016 will be different. I can already feel a new me on the horizon. That being said my taste buds have already taken the lead. I went and ate something...a bit disgusting, but oh so delicious! Confused? You should be. Can you guess what it might be? I'll give you some hints. 1. It's really good for you. 2. It's crunchy. 3. It's spicy. 4. It smells like something died. Give up? Well here it is: It's Kimchi!!!!!
I've heard random things about it for years, but never gave it much thought. Recently I've started to really enjoy red cabbage. The flavor and especially the crunch. I LOVE that one salad with the cabbage mix, the ramen noodles and the sesame seeds. The name of that salad has eluded me at the moment but nevermind. I was wandering around the health market in the grocery store and the Kimchi caught my eye. I had absolutely no idea what was in it so I decided to take a look. It's got, ginger, red peppers, and my favorite thing: CABBAGE!! So I thought, why not? The smell is...well....disgusting. Akin to sauerkraut and really bad farts. The taste, however, is delicious! Plus it's very good for the digestion. If you like spicy, crunchy things you must try this! Just..uhhh...maybe don't eat it around other people or right before a social event. Happy Eating!! This time I've got a few crafty things for you all to check out! No I didn't take a long nap last month, I was in fact working on some things. ;) One of which was a care package for my friend Jackielantern. I had been planning it for several months. More like half a year really...oops...but she had invited me to do a Blacklight Run with her. So I knew it was now or never to get the package done! If you've never heard of the Legend of Zelda series then you may find yourself to be a little lost. Nevertheless, I created a vlog that shows my processes for how I created the package. So if you wanted to make something similar with a different theme it should be very helpful. You can view the vlog here: One of the items in the care package was a D.I.Y. mug. You can design your own mug using oil based sharpie markers! I got the idea from a Pinterest pin found here You can also watch me test out the process in an Emi Tests It craft video here: Have fun and happy crafting!
