It's Art Journal Sunday! I was feeling kind of spacey today and decided to just go where the stamps took me. I selected this quirky lineup with some pretty high hopes. Well, the stamps weren't feeling it and got pretty ornery. Mom wasn't having much luck either as the marker she was working with bled into her page from the previous Sunday. There were a lot of grumblings muttered at the art table. Here was my response.... But as you can see I was also able to patch things up a bit. Because, you know, I meant to do that. =) Then I decided to add in a dash of sarcasm, my trusty camera and furry friends for support. I finished up with a few one way tickets to Peachyville, and gave some of the little critters a complexion. Now if that journal entry wasn't spontaneous then I don't know what was!
What will happen next time in the land of art? Who knows.

Hey all! I got another hat tutorial coming your way!! When I was little I had this hat. I say "hat" because that's how I used it, but really it was this super long Christmas stocking. It was pretty cool because I could use it as a hat AND a scarf! I don't have the hat anymore, but I still think it was cool idea. I see pictures of these long elflike hats on Pinterest all the time. So I decided to create my own. If you would like to make one too, click on the picture below to follow along! This one is free and you can find it on Youtube channel. ;) It is a really long hat, so I had to break this tutorial up into 3 parts. You can expect the other two to be up in the next couple of weeks.
Anyways, I think it is a rather useful hat to have because if you're wearing it you can never forget either your hat or scarf because they'll always be together! It's also a great accessory to have if you are planning on infiltrating the Keebler elves base to steal their cookies. I don't remember if I announced this in my blog yet, but I am now an official certified teacher on Curious.com! It's a pretty nifty site where you can find tutorials on how to do just about anything. Best part is, unlike Youtube, you don't have to sift through a million different videos just to find what you are looking for. Curious gets right to the point. So you can imagine that I was pretty honored to be invited to become an instructor. And....drum roll please....my first official lesson: How to Crochet a Cupcake Hat is now up on my profile!! Best of all, I get paid for these tutorials. And me getting paid for tutorials means that I can afford to create even more content, patterns, and products for all of you!
So go check it out and see what you think! I will be putting more up on my profile as time goes by. I will also still be posting other tutorials on my Youtube channel as well. As always, stay tuned! =) One of my resolutions for this year is to blog more often. I get so into projects and so far into my own world that I forget to share. that comes with being an only child. It also means I have a lot of artistic interests that pretty much take up the house. On Sundays, my mom and I work in our art journals. Whatever comes to mind (or doesn't come to mind) is what we work on. To exercise our creative muscles! I usually have a vague idea in mind, but today I was completely stumped. Until I looked out the window... Snowed in! I hate driving in the snow and luckily I didn't have to be anywhere. But it sparked an idea. When I work in my journal I get to use all my mom's fun stamps and tools. It's kind of like having a special one day privilege. xD I'm not that much into stamps, but they can be super helpful when you need a particular shape or idea. The markers are my favorite. When I think of snow, I don't think about playing in it. I think about staying inside and drinking hot tea and reveling in it's beauty while staying warm and cozy! Anyway, since we have a limited range of colors with the stamp pads, I use the markers instead to get the colors I need. This is a really good tactic to use especially if you don't want to use the entire stamp, only a little part of it. I wanted the picture to have a "looking out of a window" sort of feel. I was going to draw the window, but thought this wood pattern gave a snug cabin atmosphere. But then I forgot that I wanted to add tea cups to the window ledge. Oops! But I figured it out. For the other page of this picture I focused on the snow. I had a little bit of blue that bled through from something on the other side and it was the perfect background. I then added the words "Snow Day" using individual letters. Then added more snowflakes. Every snowflake or snow stamp we have went into it! But the pages still felt too separate. So I added in a little light wood finish to tie everything in. Not bad for coming up with it on the spot! If you would like to know more about the stamps, markers, and tools I used please visit my mom's blog. You can find her here: http://sylviamoon.weebly.com/
