Ok so, I'm still alive. I know I say it every time but life has a way of getting in the way of these blog posts. I'm sure we can all relate. xD Anyhoo, much has changed! To start, I finally got vacation time! Wooo! So my mom and I went on the first vacation either of us had been on for over 20 years. Mom really wanted to go to Dubuque, Iowa so that's where we went. Let me tell you, it was hilly! Our poor car Lola didn't know what to do with all that incline. We went to a cave, the arboretum, to a river museum and then travelled back home down through Galena to look at all the shops. Except we got up early and nothing opened until 10! LOL Of course in typical me fashion I filmed everything.
Around this time my mom introduced me to my partner in crime Aaron. Though I would say I get into more mischief than he does. He actually keeps me on the right track, helps me to "adult" when I'd rather be an ornery "kidult". In turn I get him to loosen up a bit. =P
Despite our worrying, everything worked out fine and once again I filmed everything! Pictures are worth a thousand words but I definitely prefer them in motion. =D Once we got to Tennessee it was a race to get jobs. I had to find a car first because of course I had been sharing one with my mom, and I couldn't get to work in Tennessee when our car Lola was still back in Illinois with my mom. Luckily, it only took a couple of weeks but I found my first ever car, all my own, my precious! Her name is Mrs. Norris and I call her Nori for short. A little silver 2005 Dodge Neon. Ok, enough about my car. We arrived in Tennessee the end of July 2020, so covid was still in full force. Meaning, other than work and grocery shopping there was nothing to do and nowhere to go. Not that this is much different from just being a homebody in general, but there wasn't even an option to explore or be social. So at least in that respect I have an excuse to not have any adventures or interesting things to report during that time.
Phew! That's a lot of updates! I really should post more often so I don't have to type so much. I used to enjoy talking about things but as I get older not so much.
TL;DR: I went on vaction with my mom, met the love of my life, moved to Tennessee, got my own car, and made an amazing friend who took me to a fun cave for my birthday. Let's hope it isn't another 2 years until my next post. xD

Holy crap it's been nearly a year since I posted. Well...I'm still alive! Yay! In all seriousness though I've been battling a lot of things which makes for not a lot of creativity and fun times. Actually it makes for NO creativity and fun times. It happens and I'm not going to get into it. In other news I finally finished a painting idea I've had for probably about a year. Currently I work in retail and when you're surrounded by that much unnecessary garbage every day you start thinking about it. At least I do. Things such as where the hell do people put all these collectibles, how many sunglasses do you really need, how long has this stuff been sitting here and omfg I never want to see another fidget spinner in my life!!!! I started to imagine our planet collapsing under all this garbage filling up every nook and cranny until finally it started leaking into outer space to form a ring of junk around the Earth much like Saturn's rings. Combined with a strange obsession I have with tiny things and the thought of "what if I glued a bunch of miniature things onto a canvas" popped into my head and viola. Junk in Orbit was born. Other than the miniature stuff I used acrylic paint and fabric paint. The fabric paint having the amazing effect of glowing in the dark. I couldn't get it on picture as it just wouldn't show up but it is pretty spiffy.
Aaarrgh! Where does the time go?! This is why I am constantly reminded how important it is to stop and smell the roses. If you don't the roses disappear before you even remember they were there! Anyways, back to making sense. Awhile ago I discovered these felt animal heads that you can hang on your wall. My first thought was: "that's expensive I'll just make that myself" but as I've gotten older I've realized that I just can't do everything. I don't mean that I couldn't do it if I tried but rather that it's unhealthy to spread myself so thin. When you don't have a strong passion to a particular thing you can sometimes find yourself bouncing from one thing to another without every mastering or even finishing anything that you start and this can get rather overwhelming when one day you look around yourself and realize you've got about 50 things you need or want to finish and not much time to do it. Then comes the panic attack... So! Back to felted animal heads. I thought about getting myself one (or 3) but never did. Then came Mother's Day. My mom had thought they were pretty cute too so I was sure it would make a nice gift. She seemed particularly interested in a llama one. Upon walking over to the aisle however I discovered a swan with a tutu and then...a FLAMINGO! For those of you who don't know my mom I can tell you that she loves flamingos. I think it might be their tropical appeal. But really what is not to love about them. They're cute, they're weird, and they're bright pink. So without further ado I introduce you to Ming the Merciless! Currently he looks a bit lonely so maybe at some point I'll have to get the swan to keep him company. And then maybe the unicorn and the shark....
If you're curious as to where to get your own they are in Target. Happy felt animal head hunting! P.S. No flamingos were harmed in the making of this post. Hey all! It's Spring already!! Time can sure get away from you if you aren't paying attention. I've been hard at work catching up with all the videos I had made last year and didn't finish editing. If you follow my Youtube channel you'll no doubt have already noticed the sudden influx of videos. My anxiety is slowing getting better which is fortunate since Sylvia seems to be determined to make more day trips this year whether I'm ready or not! Anyways, I've been getting my geek on it seems. If you ever played Super Mario Bros then this is for you! As I was doing this I remembered how much I really enjoy painting. So I will definitely be trying to do more of that. I often feel like I have a lot of ideas and not a lot of time or energy to do them. But at least I've always got something I can be doing. I'm never bored that's for sure!
Phew! Christmas is finally over and we are already well into the new year. I'm totally looking forward to warmer weather but in the mean time there is plenty to do inside. Such as crochet! You all thought I forgot about crocheting didn't you? No I didn't! In fact for a Christmas present my mom got me Twinkie Chan's newest book "Crocheted Abode A La Mode" and I've already started getting into it. I've actually been wanting this book all last year and I very much recommend it to all my fellow crocheter's out there. As usual Twinkie makes things delicious, fun and practical. My favorite combination! It was my mom's birthday this month and I made her some adorable magnets from the book. They turned out quite well. I've only made 3 here: the baguette, steak, and egg. But there are plenty more to make including a strawberry donut. Yum! If you're not familiar with Twinkie you can find her here: Other than that I am hanging in there as I hope the rest of you are as well. Sometimes when things get so hectic and feel so uncertain it feels near impossible to look at the positive because it's like it doesn't even exist. And maybe it doesn't. In this case we have to try to make positive things happen. I'm not talking about changing the world or anything like that but if you can find a way, even with tiny itty bitty baby things, to cheer yourself up then do it. Don't let others tell you that your coping mechanism's are stupid. Life is hard! As long as you aren't harming yourself or anyone else you do what you love and do best and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
